YORK COLLEGE: Field hockey goalie honored by CAC

York College sophomore goalie Eve Hauptle was named the Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Hauptle began the week by shutting out the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats at home on Wednesday. F&M came into that game ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division III. Hauptle recorded her first shutout of the season, making six saves in the win over the Dips. She followed that by allowing one goal in 100 minutes of hockey in a penalty-stroke loss to Juniata. Hauptle made four saves and stopped five of the eight penalty stroke attempts by Eagles.

For the week, Hauptle allowed one goal in 170 minutes of work with 10 saves, good for a .909 save percentage and a 0.42 goals-against average.

Golf team finishes sixth at Dauphin Highlands: The York College golf team finished sixth of 13 teams at the 2016 Penn State Harrisburg Fall Invitational at Dauphin Highlands Golf Club.

The Spartans had a strong second-day performance, improving by eight shots. The Spartans finished Monday with a team score of 302 and completed the tournament with a two-day score of 612.

Freshman Morgan Uhlickled the Spartans, firing 2-under-par 70 during Monday's round. He completed the tournament tied for fifth in the field of 66. Sophomore Tyler Newtonwas the next Spartan finisher. He completed the tournament tied for 11th place. Newton carded an even-par 72 on Monday.
