York's Megan Strauch earns another All-America honor

York College senior women's lacrosse defender Megan Strauch has been named a Lacrosse Magazine 2016 NCAA Division III All-American.

She was one of four defenders and one of just 13 players in the nation to earn D-III All-America selection from the leading publication covering men's and women's lacrosse.

Strauch had earlier earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association All-America honors for the second consecutive season. She finished her career as just the second two-time All-American in the 11-year history of the program, joining former Spartan standout Kim Wayson as the only players to earn the distinction twice. Wayson was a second-team All-American in 2012 and 2013.

Strauch completed her career in in mid-May in the Spartans' loss in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Amherst. It was the eighth NCAA game of Strauch's career, tying her for the highest total in school history.

Strauch played in and started all 19 games for York. She scored six points on four goals and two assists from her defensive position. She collected 49 ground balls, 47 draw controls and forced 24 caused turnovers. The 49 ground balls led the team by 24 ground balls while the 24 caused turnovers were also tops on the team. Her 47 draw controls were tops on the team by 14.

"Megan is one of the best players we have ever had at York," York coach Jen Muston said in a news release.  "Her ability to do everything on the field with equal skill played a big part of our success over the last four years. She will be very hard to replace both on and off the field."

Strauch finished her career having played in 74 career games. She scored 10 points on six goals and four assists. She had 163 ground balls, 128 draw controls and 93 caused turnovers. Strauch finished her York career second in ground balls, fifth in draw controls and third in caused turnovers. Her 74 games played tie her for second on the Spartans' all-time list. The Spartans' won 56 games during her four-year York career.

Strauch finishes her career as a three-time All-Capital Athletic Conference first-team selection and a three-time IWLCA All-Metro Regional pick. She is a three-time CoSIDA District 4 Academic All-America selection. Strauch graduated on May 14 with a 3.97 grade-point average with a degree in secondary education-mathematics. She earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in six of her eight semesters and was an eight-time member of the Dean's List. She also earned the Georgia Heathcote-Stallman Award, signifying the outstanding senior female athlete at York College.
