The York College women's lacrosse team downed the 16th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains 10-5 in the first round of the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon in York.

The 14th-ranked Spartans now advance to the tournament semifinals for the sixth year in a row and the seventh time overall.

The Spartans improved to 12-5 overall, while the Captains saw their season come to a close at 11-5.

Jordan Cassella: (three goals) Allison Kolacy (two goals, assist), Rachel Saks (two goals, assist), Nicole Clauter (five draw controls) and Rachel Donovan (four saves) paced York.

York outshot CNU, 41-12.

York heads to Salisbury University to face the Sea Gulls in the CAC semifinals on Saturday.
