For the second time in an eight-game homestand, the York College softball team split a doubleheader.

Hosting Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday, the Spartans (19-9) dropped the first game of the day, 4-2, but bounced back to mercy-rule the Diplomats, 12-1, in five innings to earn the split.

In the day's second game, Carleigh Ruleman knocked in half of York's 12 runs, including a grand slam in a six-run fourth inning. That was all part of her 3-for-3 game, which also came with three runs scored. Courtney Martin improved to 5-3, holding F&M (12-8) to one run on one hit and a walk, while striking out two in four innings.

In the first game of the day, York starter Melissa Jurkiewicz fell to 11-5 in the circle on the year, allowing the four runs, three earned, on seven hits, a walk and five strikeouts.
