The No. 21 York College wrestling team earned a 26-16 victory over Elizabethtown College at home on Tuesday night as senior heavyweight Mike Spencer sealed the team victory on his 100th career win.
Following back-to-back bout victories by the Blue Jays (6-8) leading up to the final bout, the Spartans (14-8) turned to their steady veteran at heavyweight to seal the victory. Spencer answered the bell and did it with style as he pined his opponent in 46 seconds for his team-leading 16th pin of the season and 100th career victory.
Spencer is now 100-46 for his career and is just the third Spartan in program history to reach the 100-win milestone as he is now tied for second place on the program's all-time wins list. The senior is 24-6 on the season, including 15-2 since the start of the new year, and has won 14 of his last 15 matches.
Junior captain Ryan Flynn earned York's first victory of the night as he scored a 14-0 major decision at 133. Flynn improves to 24-7 on the season and has wins in nine of his last 10 matches.
Freshman Joe Sindoni also had a strong performance as he scored a 10-1 major decision at 174. The freshman maintained control throughout the match as he scored in all three periods and earned the riding time bonus. Sindoni improves to 12-6 on the season and has wins in five of his last six matches.
The Spartans wrap up their regular season on Friday night as they return to Charles Wolf Gymnasium for a dual against Gettysburg at 7:00 p.m.
