It was not a great night for the York College basketball teams on Monday in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Both Spartans teams fell in Capital Athletic Conference action at Mary Washington.
The York women dropped 71-61 decision in a meeting of CAC powers. Mary Washington improved to 16-3 overall and 10-2 in the CAC. York fell to 15-4 and 9-3.
The Spartans led 18-9 after one quarter, but Mary Washington used a 53-31 bulge over the middle two quarters to take control.
Susquehannock High School graduate Katie Wagner had 15 points for York, while Morgan Golec added 12. Red Lion grad Morgan Kuehne chipped in 10 points.
Kendall Parker (19) and Brianne Comden (18) combined for 37 Mary Washington points.
Men's game: The Spartan men, meanwhile, fell 67-45 to Mary Washington.
The Eagles are now 6-6 in the CAC and 10-9 overall. York fell to 9-10 and 5-7.
The Eagles placed four players in double figures, led by T.J Jones. The CAC's leading scorer tallied 17 points.
Sophomore Blayde Reich led York with a career-high 19 points. Freshly minted CAC Player of the Week Dalton Myers added 14 points for the Spartans.
Both games were originally scheduled to be played on Jan. 23 but Winter Storm Jonas forced the postponement until Monday.
Both York teams are in the middle of a 10-day stretch featuring five games. Both teams return to action Wednesday when they head to Dover, Delaware, to face Wesley College in a CAC battle.
