Two York College swimmers have been honored by honored by the Capital Athletic Conference for a second straight week.
York senior Kyle Walthall was named the CAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week after breaking a pool record and winning six events in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. Walthall began the week with two individual victories against Messiah. He broke the York pool record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.72 seconds, the top time in the nation this year, and also claimed first in the 200 individual medley. In a win over Washington & Jefferson, he captured first place in the 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and contributed to the winning 200 medley relay team.
York freshman Maddy Mann was named the CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week after breaking a pool record in the 1,650 freestyle and collecting four victories and three second-place finishes in a 1-1 week for the Spartans. Mann established a York pool record in the 1,650 freestyle last Wednesday against Messiah, touching with a time of 18:05.90, which broke the pool record by more than 28 seconds. Her 1,650 time ranks atop the CAC and eighth nationally. In the Spartans' victory over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, she posted three individual wins in the 1,000 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle.
