YORK COLLEGE: Women's volleyball team gets first victory of season
Spartans women's volleyball team victorious at Gettysburg: The York College women's volleyball team knocked off Gettysburg 25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 25-19 to earn its first win of the season. Eryn Brady led all York players with 15 kills, while Heather Kline (13) and Kelly Cavey (10) also got into double digits. Katherine Graziano had a game-high 31 digs for the Spartans, while Sarah Wukitch and Kline each had a team-high three blocks.
York men's soccer team settles for draw vs. Alvernia: Despite dominating the game, the York men's soccer team couldn't find the game-winning goal at Alvernia, settling for a 1-1 draw. It was the second straight match York had to play into double overtime, after dropping a 3-2 result to Lycoming on Sunday. The Spartans took a 1-0 lead into halftime, with Brendan Saberton scoring just seconds before the halftime whistle. The lead was short-lived. Alvernia tied it six minutes into the second half. York outshot the Crusaders 20-7 and held a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Spartans moved to 1-2-1, while Alvernia is 1-1-2.
York field hockey team downed by Elizabethtown: The York College field hockey team saw its brief two-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday, dropping a 5-1 result to Elizabethtown. The Spartans' only goal came from Autumn Mallory. The Spartans fell to 2-2, while E-Town is 1-2.
