YORK COLLEGE: Two Spartans' golfers earn All-CAC recognition

Two York College golfers have earned All-Capital Athletic Conference honors.

Junior Ryan Wolbach was named to the All-CAC First Team, while senior David Boslough was named to the second team. Both were repeat honorees. Wolbach was a second-team pick a year ago, while Boslough got his third straight second-team recognition.

Wolbach and Boslough helped the Spartans finish third in the CAC Championship for the second-straight year. York is the only team in CAC history to finish among the top three teams every year at the conference championship tournament (including winning the titles in 2009 and 2013).

At the CAC Championships at the James River Country Club in Newport News, Virginia, Wolbach tied for third with a two-round 5-over-par 145 total. Boslough finished 12th with a 157 total.

Baseball team beaten: The York College baseball team suffered a 12-5 non-league home loss to Montclair State on Tuesday.

The contest was tied 5-5 after four innings before Montclair plated seven runs over the next three innings to put the game out of reach.

Brad Wenzel (three hits, two RBIs, run scored), Logan Countryman (two hits, double, two runs) and Stephen Miele (two hits, triple, two RBIs) paced York's 10-hit attack. The Spartans, however, allowed 18 hits.

York dropped to 12-16, while Montclair improved to 15-14.

Men's tennis player recognized: York senior Matt Rosenkrantz earned CAC Player of the Week honors after going a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play last week, helping the Spartans advance to the CAC semifinals.

In Tuesday's regular-season finale at Penn State Harrisburg, Rosenkrantz combined with Jake Greenstein to earn an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before claiming a 6-1, 6-4 win in the third singles match. In the opening round of the CAC Tournament, Rosenkrantz again combined with Greenstein, this time to earn a 9-7 second doubles win. He then earned a 6-1, 6-3 win in third singles to help the Spartans advance to the CAC semifinals.

Men's tennis team falls in CAC semifinals: The York College men's tennis team saw its season end with a 9-0 loss to Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Spartans, who didn't win more than two games in any set, finished at 11-7. The Eagles improved to 19-5.
