The York College women's lacrosse team made short work of its guest, Frostburg State, during Wednesday's 13-4 home victory.

Lily Damalouji led the way for the Spartans (9-4 overall, 4-1 Capital Athletic Conference), scoring four goals. Rachel Saks contributed to the winning cause with three goals of her own.

Jayme Verman had a four-point night of her own, scoring two goals and handing out two assists. Goalie Charlotte Wright made three saves in collecting her eighth win of the season.

York is ranked No. 15 in NCAA Division III.

A pair of Molly Hart goals led the way for Frostburg State (8-6, 2-4).

Men's lacrosse team rolls: In men's lacrosse action, when Wesley's Nate Gemmato opened the game's scoring Wednesday, it quickly lit a fire under the Spartans in their 13-6 win at home.

York (8-5, 4-1 CAC) scored eight of the game's next 10 goals, including six unanswered.

Leading the charge was Tyler Hutson with a three-goal, two-assist effort. Also with three goals for the Spartans was Andrew Gamble.

Caleb Abney stopped seven shots to pick up his eighth win of the year in goal for the Spartans.

Joe Fingles scored a pair of goals for Wesley (5-6, 0-5).

Softball squad splits with Messiah: York College did its damage early in a 3-1 softball win against Messiah in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader hosted by the Spartans.

An Ashley Lechner RBI single in the bottom of the first inning was followed by a Carleigh Ruleman two-run homer down the left-field line in the next at bat. That outburst gave the Spartans (18-10) all the offense they would need. Courtney Martin (13-8) pitched a complete-game seven-hitter to get the win.

The Falcons Becky Note went 1-for-3 and drove in Messiah's lone run. The Falcons fell to 16-7.

York was limited to only six hits by Messiah's Claressa Mees in a 3-0 loss in the opener. Jayci Cristaudo collected two of the Spartans' hits. Melissa Jurkiewicz (5-2) took the loss despite pitching a complete game and giving up just two earned runs.
