The man known as the "Voice of Penn State Sports" is coming to York.

Steve Jones, who serves as the play-by-play voice for Penn State football and men's basketball, will appear at the annual dinner held by the York County Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association.

The event is set for 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center, 2700 Mount Rose Ave.

The cost is $35 for PSAA members and $45 for non-members.

Jones is a 1980 speech communication and broadcasting graduate of Penn State.

In addition to his football and men's basketball duties, Jones also covers a variety of Penn State and local sports. He also serves as the lead play-by-play voice of the State College Spikes minor-league baseball team. In addition, he teaches sports broadcasting in the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism.

Communications students and professional broadcasters utilize the Steve Jones Student Sports Broadcasting Complex, housed in Rec Hall, when they work on the Penn State campus. The complex offers hands-on experiences to students pursuing careers in sports broadcasting.

The event will include a buffet-style meal and a cash bar.
