Penn State’s future looks pretty favorable according to oddsmakers, who really seem to like the Big Ten East as well.

The Lions enter 2018 among the betting favorites for the College Football Playoff title, according to two oddsmakers. The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas gives Penn State 12/1 odds to win the 2019 championship game, while oddsmaker RJ Bell of pregame.com has Penn State at 14/1.

However, both oddsmakers have Penn State third in the Big Ten East. Ohio State is a 5/1 bet to win it all, according to the Westgate SuperBook, and Michigan is 10/1.

Both oddsmakers also have set defending champ Alabama as the favorite to repeat.

Penn State finished eighth in the season-ending AP Top 25 poll released Tuesday, marking its first two-year run of top-10 rankings in nearly a decade.

The Lions, who finished the 2016 season at No. 7, achieved consecutive top-10 rankings for the first time since 2008-09. The run also marks just the third time since joining the Big Ten that Penn State has finished in the top 10 in consecutive seasons.

Penn State finished eighth and second in 1993-94 and eighth and ninth in 2008-09. The Lions also completed consecutive 11-win seasons for the first time since 2008-09.

Three Big Ten teams finished in the top 10, with champ Ohio State leading at No. 5. Central Florida, the only undefeated team in the FBS, was sixth. Central Florida actually received four first-place votes in the final poll, while Alabama got the other 57.
