James Franklin's stop at Penn State York is sold out
James Franklin is apparently a very popular figure in York County.
The Penn State head football coach will stop at Penn State York for a luncheon on Monday, May 8, as part of the PSU Coaches Caravan.
The York stop was announced in late February and is already sold out, according to a news release from the school. It is one of two events on the seven-stop tour that has been already been sold out. The other is May 9 luncheon at Penn State Hazleton.
Franklin will be joined at the York event by athletic director Sandy Barbour, men's gymnastics coach Randy Jepson and women's golf coach Denise St. Pierre.
Advance registration is required for all events on the caravan, which is jointly sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club. Fans can register for the caravan at www.alumni.psu.edu/coachescaravan. As a benefit of membership, Penn State Alumni Association and Nittany Lion Club members began signing up for the caravan events at a reduced rate. This year marks the fifth edition of the caravan.
Franklin, the 2016 Sporting News National Coach of the Year, is scheduled to participate in all seven caravan stops. At each event, alumni, friends and fans will hear updates on the Nittany Lions’ athletic program and learn about the 2017 football season.
Each of the events will feature a meet and greet with Franklin and the other head coaches. Franklin will meet with alumni and fans and talk about Penn State’s 2016 Big Ten championship run and Rose Bowl berth, as well as preparations for the 2017 season.
