Penn State will host Rutgers for its 2017 Homecoming game, which will mark the event's latest date in school history.

Penn State announced Tuesday that this year's Homecoming game will take place Nov. 11 against Rutgers. The date coincides with Veterans Day, and the game also will mark Military Appreciation Day at Beaver Stadium.

Penn State Homecoming is very excited to have the unique opportunity to work in collaboration with Military Appreciation Week,” Jillian Susi, executive director of 2017 Penn State Homecoming, said in a statement. “We look forward to organizing events to celebrate pride and tradition for the whole Penn State community to enjoy.”

According to Penn State's football records book, the Homecoming date will be the latest since 1920, when the team played its first Homecoming game against Dartmouth.

Penn State since has played seven Homecoming games in November, most recently in 2001.

Previously, Penn State's latest Homecoming game was against Notre Dame on Nov. 7, 1925. That game ended in a 0-0 tie.
