Penn State picks up 13th verbal commitment for 2017
Penn State is suddenly on a recruiting roll.
The Nittany Lions on Tuesday landed their fifth recruit since July 20.
The newest verbal commitment for PSU is Brailyn Franklin, a 6-foot, 2-inch, 200-pound three-star recruit (on a five-star scale). He's expected to play either linebacker or safety for the Lions.
Franklin is from Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Virginia. He also had scholarship offers from Virginia Tech, Maryland, Purdue, Temple, Cincinnati, Kansas and Syracuse, among others.
The recent rash of commitments has lifted the Lions' 2016 recruiting class to 13 members. The Lions' class is ranked No. 20 in the nation, according to Scout.com.
