As first reported by 247 Sports and confirmed to the Centre Daily Times by the Penn State athletic department, redshirt freshman defensive tackle Kamonte Carter has been dismissed from the team for violation of team rules.

“Kam Carter was informed on April 21 that he is no longer a member of the Penn State football team for a violation of team rules,” a spokesperson said. “We appreciate Kam’s contributions to the program and wish him success in the future.”

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound former four-star prospect from Gaithersburg, Maryland, did not play in this year’s Blue-White game. He was expected to see some time in the defensive line rotation this fall as a backup.

Carter is the second player dismissed from Penn State’s football program this month (by timeline, he was technically the first). Tight end Brent Wilkerson was also kicked off the team last week as assault charges against him get their due process in court.
