PSU Blue-White Game set for April 16

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The first look at Penn State’s new offense will take place Saturday, April, 16 during the Nittany Lions’ annual Blue-White Game, which is set to kick off at 2 p.m. in Beaver Stadium, Penn State announced Tuesday.

Matt Limegrover is Penn State's new offensive line coach. He came over from the University of Minnesota and has a big job on his hands. PSU's offensive line has been a problem spot in recent years.

The Lions’ spring football game will not be televised live but will be carried on the Penn State Sports Network and The game featured crowds of 50,000-plus in seven of the past nine years, with an estimated 68,000 on hand last April.

The 15th and final practice of the spring will have more intrigue this year than usual as the Lions will be breaking in a new quarterback and both the offense and defense saw changes in coordinators this offseason. The Lions’ offensive line, an area of need that was magnified both of the past two seasons, is led by new position coach Matt Limegrover while the Lions’ safeties also saw a coaching change last month.

Gone are three of Penn State’s starting front four as the defensive linemen wait to hear their names called during the 2016 NFL Draft. It will also be a first look at the four early enrollee freshmen who arrived on campus in January and who are going through winter conditioning with the rest of the team.

James Franklin enters his third season in Happy Valley, coming off back-to-back 7-6 seasons.
