Susquehannock grad Richard Grant has big night in Penn State York's PSUAC playoff victory

Susquehannock High School graduate Richard Grant dropped in a game-high 22 points to power the Penn State York men’s basketball team to the second round of the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference playoffs.

Grant, a 6-foot, 6-inch junior, also pulled down 17 rebounds in the local Lions' 68-56 home victory against Penn State Hazleton.

Khalil White was also in double digits for York, scoring 15 points.

Grant’s efforts on the glass helped York score a 43-32 advantage in rebounding. York also dished out twice as many assists as Hazleton, 16-8.

Third-seeded Penn State York will now head to second-seed Penn State Brandywine for a semifinal match-up at 5 p.m. Saturday.

PSY women fall: The Penn State York women weren't as fortunate as the PSY men, dropping a 69-44 decision at Penn State Schuylkill in a PSUAC first-round playoff contest.

The fifth-seeded local Lions saw their season end with the loss.

It was a tough shooting night for York against the fourth-seeded hosts. York could only muster 15 of 67 shooting (22 percent) from the floor and 6 of 29 (21 percent) from 3-point range.

York was also out rebounded 51-30.

Corina Rivera led York with 13 points.
