Penn State York men start title chase

STAFF REPORT

Penn State York will begin its chase for a fourth straight Penn State University Athletic Conference championship on Wednesday night.

Red Lion High School graduate Trent Thomas leads Penn State York in scoring at more than 26 points per game.

The local Lions will play host to Penn State DuBois at 7 p.m. at York College.

PSY finished the season as the No. 3 seed in the PSUAC with a regular-season conference record of 11-5. DuBois finished 9-7 in the conference.

The local Lions will be looking for some revenge after suffering a wild 110-107 overtime loss to DuBois on Friday at Spooky Nook in Lancaster.

PSY is led by a pair of former York-Adams League standouts. Red Lion High School graduate Trent Thomas, a 6-foot, 2-inch freshman, is averaging 26.7 points per game, while Northeastern grad Mike Coleman, a 6-foot, 3-inch freshman, is averaging 12.6 ppg. Dallastown grad Judd Gemmill, a 5-9 senior, averages 9.1 ppg.

PSY was also a No. 3 seed a season ago, but still managed to win the conference tournament title.
