Red Lion High School graduate Trent Thomas poured in a career-high 49 points on Sunday, but it wasn't enough to carry his Penn State York men's basketball team to victory.

The PSY men suffered a costly loss in their effort to win the Penn State University Athletic Conference regular-season title.

The local Lions dropped a 98-95 overtime setback at Penn State Schuylkill.

Thomas, a 6-foot, 2-inch freshman, finished the night 16 for 33 from the field, 6 for 11 from 3-point range and 11 for 14 from the foul line. Dallastown High School grad Judd Gemmill added 13 points for PSY, while Northeastern grad Mike Coleman chipped in 11 points.

The Yorkers led by as much as 18 points and held a 52-39 margin at halftime, but got outscored 48-35 in the second half, which forced OT. Schuylkill then held an 11-8 edge in OT.
