Penn State York basketball teams suffer pair of close losses
The Penn State York basketball teams suffered a pair of close losses on Wednesday night to Central Penn in Enola.
The PSY men dropped a 79-77 decision, while the PSY women fell, 58-57.
The PSY men are now 0-2, while it was the season opener for the PSY women.
In the men's game, Jordan Lilly came off the bench to lead the local Lions with 14 points. Lucas Jewell added 11 points for PSY, while York Suburban High School graduate Evan Eberhardinger chipped in 10. Susquehannock High grad Richard Grant, a 6-foot, 4-inch freshman, pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds. PSY turned the ball over 25 times and also had shooting problems (39.5 percent from the field and 47.4 percent from the foul line).
In the women's game, Bermudian Springs grad Karra Thomason (21 points, nine rebounds), West York grad Charizma Johnson (15 points, nine rebounds, five assists), Sabrina Simmons (12 points, 14 rebounds) and York Catholic grad Katie McNamara (eight points, 11 rebounds) excelled in the loss. Like the men's team, the PSY women struggled shooting (27.8 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from the foul line), while also committing 22 turnovers.
