The Penn State York men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Penn State Hazleton.

PSY improved to 1-3-1.

Jose Salazar, from Lima, Peru, had a goal and an assist to lead the local Lions. Dover High School graduate Cole Wentz had the other goal. Central York grad Bryce Finch made six saves to get the win in goal.

PSY falls in women's volleyball: Penn State York dropped a 25-9, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18 verdict to Penn State Hazleton on Wednesday in women's volleyball action. PSY fell to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. Hazleton is 2-4 and 1-2. PSY was led by Savannah London (12 kills), Spring Grove grad Haley Syester (14 assists) and Mckenzie Jones (24 digs).

York field hockey team falls: The York College field hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday in Lancaster. York fell to 3-4, while F&M, ranked No. 9 nationally in NCAA Division III, improved to 6-0. Kristin Varilla scored York's goal off an assist from Abby Piotrowski. 

York women's soccer squad loses: The York College women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 verdict to visiting Gettysburg on Wednesday. York is now 1-5, while Gettysburg is 5-0. Rachel Wilhelm scored York's goal off an assist from Georgia Gillcrist.

Spartans fall in men's soccer: The York College men's soccer team suffered a 3-2 loss to visiting Messiah on Wednesday evening. York is 3-2-2, while Messiah is 4-2-1. Zion Friday had a goal and an assist for York, while Travis Gould had the Spartans' other score. Trevor Goodling had all of Messiah's goals. 

York loses in volleyball: The York College women's volleyball team was defeated by Dickinson on Wednesday in Carlisle, 25-22, 25-18, 25-12. The Spartans are 4-6 overall. Dickinson is 7-3. Tyler Williams (nine kills), Abby Diehl (14 assists) and Emily Pupo (10 digs) led the Spartans.
