Two York College athletes have been honored by the Capital Athletic Conference with weekly awards.
Freshman golfer Casey Leebrick has been named the CAC Men's Golfer of the Week. Leebrick made his collegiate debut a successful one, winning the 2018 Montgomery Cup individual title this past weekend at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Delaware, Pennsylvania.
Leebrick finished with a two-day total of 8-under 136, two strokes better than Allegheny's Andrew Reynolds. He fired a 5-under-par 67 on Saturday, setting a new school record. He followed that with a 3-under 69.
Senior Ray Smith has been named as the CAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Smith led the Spartans to a team championship at the Lock Haven Open on Saturday. Smith placed third in 25 minutes, 48.1 seconds in a field of 222 runners. The third-place finish is the best of Smith's Spartan career. The Spartans won the team title with 83 points.
