York Catholic grad finishes off stellar women's lacrosse career at Kutztown University
York Catholic High School graduate Sarah Gabriele was honored recently as the 2018 Kutztown University Senior Female Athlete of the Year.
Gabriele is the first women's lacrosse player to receive the honor in its 26-year history.
Gabriele owns nearly every offensive record for the Kutztown women's lacrosse program.
Gabriele closed her four-year career at KU as the first player in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) history to hold a school's career goals, assists and points records, with 176 goals, 57 assists for 233 points. She ranks 20th in PSAC history in scoring and 27th in points. Her 119 draw controls rate third at KU, while her 63 starts rank third and her 64 games played rank seventh.
The Felton native started in 16 of 17 games this year, and ended her senior season with the team-lead in goals (41), assists (20) and points (61). She recorded 24 ground balls, 10 draw controls and had seven caused turnovers. Gabriele also had a career-high .798 shots-on-goal percentage.
Gabriele was also invited to play in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) NCAA Division II Senior All-Star Game, which was held at Tierney Field at U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland, on Saturday, June 2, 2018.
Gabriele was a two-time All-PSAC selection, earning third-team honors in 2016 and second-team honors in 2017.
