The York College baseball team erupted for a 10-run third inning, which included four home runs, three of them in a row, to blitz St. Mary's (Md.) College 14-2 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Tuesday at Jaquet Field.

Jeff Noss threw seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, to earn his first win of the season.

York improved to 10-12-1 overall and 3-5 in the CAC. St. Mary's fell to 9-11 and 2-8.

The Spartans' hitting leaders were: Christian Bilan (3-for-5, two runs, RBI, double), Rob Acierno (2-for-3, three RBIs, two runs, homer), Jack Barry (homer, double, two RBIs, two runs) and Seth Brosius (2-for-5, two RBIs, two runs scored, homer).

Softball team earns split: The York College softball team earned a non-league doubleheader split vs. visiting Elizabethtown on Tuesday.

E-Town won the opener, 4-0, while York took the second game, 5-3. 

Melissa Jurkiewicz pitched a complete game to get the second-game win, striking out six. Haley Hirn (homer, two doubles) and Ashley Werner (two hits, homer) paced York's offense to the win.

In the opener, York's Ginger Lewis pitched a complete game, striking out 13, but still took the loss.

Spartans earn CAC lacrosse honors: York College seniors Dillon Hannah and Landry Marshall swept the CAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week awards for April 9.

Hannah was tabbed as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after six goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. Marshall earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting a goals-against average of 2.67 and a save percentage of 76.5 percent in a 2-0 week. 

PSY swept in softball: The Penn State York softball teams were swept at Penn State Schuylkill on Tuesday, losing 20-0 in the first game and forfeiting the second game.
