After helping George Mason to an historic victory at Penn State, Central York High School graduate Hayden Wagner has been named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week.
It's second time time this season that the 6-foot, 6-inch sophomore opposite hitter has won the award.
Wagner compiled his second 20-kill match of the season at No. 7 Penn State in the Patriots' first-ever 3-0 road win over the Nittany Lions.
During the weekend, Wagner averaged 4.43 kills per set and hit .295 (31-13-61) over seven sets played. Wagner also notched five service aces over his seven sets, including one in a key situation against Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) that gave Mason a 26-25 lead in the fourth set. George Mason would win that match, 3-1.
For the season, Wagner leads George Mason in kills (143), kills per set (3.58), points (175.5), points per set (4.39), service aces (19) and service aces per set (0.48).
Mason (8-7 overall) has begun conference play 4-0 and sits alone at the top of the EIVA standings.
