Red Lion High School grad Dylan North puts on stellar effort at PSAC swimming meet in York
- Red Lion grad Dylan North won four individual titles at the PSAC swim meet held in York.
- Dover grad Nicole Smith won two individual crowns at the PSAC event.
- Another Dover grad, Summer Dacheux won the 100 backstroke at the PSAC meet.
Red Lion High School graduate Dylan North returned to York County last week and put on a stellar display of swimming.
The West Chester University sophomore won four individual events to help the Golden Rams capture a 20th straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's swimming team title.
The event was held at the York YMCA's Graham Aquatic Center.
North led West Chester with individual victories in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9 minutes, 19.06 seconds), 400 individual medley (3:59.39), 1,650 free (15:45.20) and 500 free (4:33.72).
West Chester won the men's title with 813 points, while Bloomsburg was second at 610.5, followed up Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 466.5
Dallastown graduate Noah Brockway, a junior for IUP, took second in the 200 backstroke in 1:52.68.
In women's action, Dover grad Nicole Smith, a senior at IUP, won the 100 freestyle in :51.47. She also won the 200 free in a school-record time of 1:50.16.
Another Dover grad, Summer Dacheux, claimed the title in the 100 back for the second year in a row for Clarion University. Her time this year was :56.40. It represents a new personal best for the senior, whose previous PR was a 56.56.
West Chester also won the PSAC women's team title with 1,884 points. It was the Rams' 12th straight PSAC women's crown. Bloomsburg was second at 1,159, followed by IUP at 901 and Clarion at 713.
