Penn State Altoona men's volleyball's sophomore opposite hitter Brandon Arentz was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Arentz is a former Northeastern High School standout.
Arentz posted solid defensive efforts for the Lions last week in five matches against non-conference opponents.
For the week, Arentz had 50 digs (2.63 digs per set) and five total blocks (0.26 blocks per set), and he also contributed offensively with 36 kills (1.89 kills per set).
This is the first NEAC Player of the Week award earned by Arentz this season. He is an economics major.
Penn State Altoona is 6-3 overall.
Marsteller gets PSAC award: Kennard-Dale High School graduate Chance Marsteller has been named the Wrestler of the Week by both the Eastern Wrestling League and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
The junior 165-pound standout for Lock Haven University upset then-No. 4 Chad Walsh of Rider, 8-4, over the weekend. Walsh, a two-time All-American, was previously unbeaten on the season.
Marsteller is now 32-1 on the season and is now ranked No. 4 in his weight class by Intermat.
Reich is Spartan Athlete of the Week: For the third time this year, York College senior Blayde Reich has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week.
Reich went over the 1,000-point mark for his career in Saturday's win over Marymount. He is the 24th Spartan to reach that milestone. For the week, Reich averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor.
For the season, Reich is averaging 18.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. He leads the team in both categories. York is 17-2 on the season and ranked No. 10 nationally in NCAA Division III by d3hoops.com.
York swimmer honored again: York College freshman swimmer Keven Stahl has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week for a fifth time in the 2017-18 season.
Stahl led the Spartans to their fifth straight dual-meet win over Marymount in Arlington, Virginia, on Saturday.
Stahl was on York's winning 400 medley relay team. He then recorded a win in the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 45.94 seconds, winning by more than seven seconds. He followed that with a win in the 100 butterfly in :53.22.
Stahl owns the top times in the CAC in the 200 free, 500 free, 1,000 free, 1,650 free and 400 individual medley.
