Spring Grove High School graduate Luke Hoffnagle has been selected for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Golf First Team.

Hoffnagle is a freshman for Penn State Altoona.

"For Luke to earn first team all-conference as a freshman is outstanding," Penn State Altoona coach Tom Koehle said in a news release. "We look forward to using this recognition as a spring board to future success."

Hoffnagle competed in all 11 rounds for the Lions, averaging a team-best 77.45 per round, ranking as the seventh-lowest average in the AMCC. The freshman's lowest score of the season came during the first day of the Allegheny College Invitational on Sept. 10, when he shot 73 to lead his team and tie for third out of 99 individuals on the day. In the AMCC Championships on Oct. 8-9, Hoffnagle shot 74 and 78 to place eighth out of 45 golfers.

The Penn State Altoona men's golf team placed third in the AMCC Championships this season.

Brady is Spartan Athlete of Week: York College junior volleyball outside hitter Eryn Brady has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 22.

Brady led the Spartans to a trio of Capital Athletic Conference wins, helping the Spartans improve to 5-2 in the conference. York surpassed its conference win total from last year with three five-set wins for the week.

Brady began the week with 10 kills in 19 attempts in a 3-2 win over Marymount on Wednesday. She added a dig, three block assists and one solo block for 12.5 points in the victory.

On Friday, Brady helped the Spartans snap a 15-match losing streak to Salisbury when she registered a career-high 18 kills. Brady hit .372 with one dig, and one block assist for 18.5 points in a 3-2 victory over the Sea Gulls.

Brady closed out her week with 14 kills in 36 attempts in a 3-2 win at Wesley. She also had three digs and 14 points for the Spartans. York improved to 19-7 overall.

For the season, Brady is second on the team in attack percentage (.243), third in kills per set (2.19) and second in total kills (206).

York's Wieber honored by CAC: York College freshman goalie Jess Wieber has been named the CAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Wieber pitched a pair of shutouts to lead York to a pair of CAC wins this week.

Wednesday, Wieber blanked Wesley, notching two saves. She went the distance to earn the victory.

She followed that with one save in a 2-0 win over Southern Virginia on Saturday in York. Wieber finished the week with two shutouts in 180 minutes of action.

For the season, Wieber has played more than 1,168 minutes and owns a goals-against average of 1.31. Wieber owns a .782 save percentage. She has recorded 61 saves and has posted three shutouts for the year.
