Competing in the program's first-ever college event, the York women's golf team showcased itself very well earlier in the week.

Playing in the Bay Creek Invitational hosted by Christopher Newport at the Palmer Course at the Bay Creek Resort in Cape Charles, Virginia, on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 11-12, the Spartans took second out of four teams.

A team made up of all freshmen, the Spartans were led by Emma Harding, who shot a two-day total of 176, good for seventh place. After firing a 92 on the first day, she rebounded to shoot 84 on Day 2. 

The York men, meanwhile, took third at Bay Creek out of six teams.

Tyler Newton was the Spartans' low man, finishing his 36 holes with a 1-over total of 145. After shooting a 3-over 75 on the opening day, Newton came back to post a 1-under 70 and finish third overall, two shots behind the winner.

York women's volleyball team swept: York College was swept in women's volleyball by Gettysburg College on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 25-16, 25-22, 25-20. Brooke Krebs finished with 11 kills, while Alexis Harbold had 17 digs and Gabby Emeigh passed for 16 assists. The loss dropped York to 6-4, while the Bullets moved to 10-0.

York men fall in soccer: A big second half by Johns Hopkins led it to a comfortable home victory over York College, 4-1 in men's soccer on Wednesday. After the Spartans carried a 1-0 lead into halftime, the Blue Jays rallied for four unanswered goals in the second half. York's only goal came from Zion Friday, assisted by Ben Mochan. The Spartans are now 2-2-1 on the year.

York women shut out in soccer: The York College women's soccer team was shut out by Gettysburg, 2-0, on Wednesday. The Bullets (2-1-1) scored once in each half to edge out York (0-4).

PSY men's soccer team loses: The Penn State York men's soccer team had a rough time with Berkeley, New Jersey, on Wednesday, dropping an 11-1 result at home. Carlos Robles-Flores scored the only goal for PSY.
