COLLEGE: York's Autumn Mallory, Eva Hauptle honored by Capital Athletic Conference
York College senior forward Autumn Mallory has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon, Sept. 11
In addition, York junior goalie Eve Hauptle has been named the CAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.
Mallory and Hauptle led the Spartans to a pair of wins last week.
Mallory began the week by scoring the lone goal of the game with 4:05 left in the first overtime to lift the Spartans to a 1-0 win over Dickinson in the Spartans' home opener.
She followed that with the first two goals in the Spartans 6-1 win over previously unbeaten Shenandoah on Saturday.
Mallory finished the week with three goals on eight shots on goal. She also had both game-winners for York.
For the season, Mallory is tied with teammate Greta Plappert for the team lead in goals (three) and points (six).
Mallory was also named the Spartan Athlete of the Week.
Hauptle, meanwhile, registered more than 80 minutes of scoreless hockey vs. Dickinson.
Against Shenandoah, Hauptle allowed one goal that came when the Spartans were playing one player down because of a yellow card. She tallied a save in the match.
For the week, Hauptle allowed one goal in more than 150 minutes of work, finishing with seven saves. She had a 0.46 goals against average and an .875 save percentage.
York County products help Spartans shut out Susquehanna in field hockey: The York College field hockey team improved to 4-1 overall with a 2-0 win over Susquehanna on Monday, Sept. 11.
York got a pair of first-half goals from two York County products. Central York graduate Greta Plappert opened the game's scoring with a goal one minute into the contest. Then, 11 minutes later, Red Lion product Paige Taylor added to the lead with a goal of her own to make it 2-0.
Taylor finished the day with a goal and assist, while Hauptle continued her strong year by stopping all three shots that found the target.
York women's volleyball prevails: The Spartans' women's volleyball team knocked off Elizabethtown on Monday, 25-19, 18-25, 25-21, 25-19.
Eryn Brady led the charge for York (6-3) with 10 kills. Gabby Emeigh finished with 21 assists and Alexis Harbold came up with 25 digs.
