COLLEGE: Ilgenfritz, Norton enjoying standout seasons


West York High School graduate Allee Ilgenfritz is enjoying a standout senior season for the La Salle women's lacrosse team.

Ilgenfritz leads the NCAA Division I Explorers in goals (42), assists (13) and points (55).

Last season, Ilgenfritz ranked second on the team with 29 goals and was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team.

In all, there are three York County products on the Explorers.

Kennard-Dale grad Nicole Black is a redshirt junior and South Western grad Katie Wherley is a fifth-year senior. Black is fourth on the team with 14 goals, second on the team with nine assists and fourth on the team with 23 points. Wherley has not scored this year.

La Salle is 6-8 overall and 2-4 in the Atlantic 10.



Spring Grove's Norton is NEC Player of the Week: Spring Grove High School graduate Hayley Norton, a sophomore at Saint Francis, was named the Northeast Conference Softball Player of the Week on Monday.

Norton helped the NCAA Division I Red Flash to an 8-0 week, including six NEC wins. It was Norton's first NEC Player of the Week award this season and the second of her career. Norton batted .458 for the week, going 11 of 24 from the plate. She hit three doubles and three homers, while driving in 10 runs, scoring seven runs and stealing two bases.

On the season, Norton is batting .317 with 44 hits, seven doubles, a triple, 11 homers, 42 RBIs, 34 runs and 10 steals.

Saint Francis is 35-9 overall and 8-0 in the NEC.

York's Lewis, Clauter honored by CAC: York freshman Ginger Lewis was named the Capital Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week after posting a 3-0 record and allowing just one run and nine hits in 23 innings. For the season, Lewis is 11-7 with a 1.96 ERA.

York sophomore Nicole Clauter was selected the CAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after leading the fifth-ranked Spartans to a pair of CAC wins, including a victory over Salisbury that snapped the Sea Gulls' 101-game conference winning streak.

Susquehannock's Miller leads Longwood in hitting: Susquehannock High School graduate Sammy Miller leads the Longwood baseball team in hitting with a .322 average.

The junior outfielder also leads the team with a .426 on-base percentage and 15 steals.

Longwood, which plays on the NCAA Division I level in the Big South, is 12-22 overall and 4-8 in the conference.

West York's Kinneman solid for N.C. State: West York High School graduate Brett Kinneman is having a solid sophomore season for the North Carolina State baseball team.

The outfielder is hitting .270 with six homers and 22 RBIs. His six homers are second best on the team. He also has a .500 slugging percentage and a .369 on-base percentage. Kinneman was a 2016 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and a 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference All-Freshman Team member.

The Wolfopack are 20-17 overall and 8-10 in the ACC.

Spring Grove's Brooks having good year for Charlotte: Spring Grove graduate Matt Brooks is having a strong freshman season for the NCAA Division I North Carolina Charlotte baseball team, making 16 appearances in the team's 36 games this year.

Spring Grove graduate Matt Brooks is having a solid freshman campaign for UNC Charlotte, boasting a 4-3 record and 4.11 ERA as a reliever.

Primarily serving as a reliever for the 49ers, Brooks boasts a 4.11 ERA, which is the fifth best on the team, while also sporting a 4-3 record. In 30 2/3 innings, Brooks has struck out 33, while allowing batters to hit just .220 off of him. Charlotte is 20-16 on the season and 9-6 in Conference USA play.

Susquehannock's Valway joins 100-point club at Marywood: Susquehannock High School graduate Ashley Valway recently became the ninth member of the 100-point club for the Marywood University women's lacrosse team.

The sophomore reached the milestone in the Pacers' 18-2 win over Cedar Crest College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action. Valway scored two goals to reach the century mark. Valway leads Marywood in goals (38) and is tied for the team lead in points (47). Last year, she finished with 42 goals, 17 assists and 59 points.

This year, Marywood is 9-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference.

West York's Garman leads Lebanon Valley: West York High School graduate Klayton Garman leads the Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team in goals (26) and points (41) and he's second on the team in assists (15).

Lebanon Valley is 7-6 overall and 1-4 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Division.

Central York's Czaplinski starts fast at Oglethorpe: Central York High School graduate Jillian Czaplinski is having a strong freshman campaign for the Oglethorpe women's lacrosse team.

Czaplinski leads Oglethorpe in assists (15), is second on the team in points (32) and is fourth on the team in goals (17). Oglethorpe, located in Atlanta, is 5-11 overall and 2-5 in the Southern Athletic Association.
