York Catholic grad Fix honored for softball excellence

- Carrie Fix has been named the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week in softball.
- The York Catholic grad pitched 12.2 innings and allowed two runs in two games.
- The junior held opponents to a .146 batting-average against for the week.
York Catholic High School graduate Carrie Fix helped the highly-ranked Messiah College women's softball team get off to a fast start last week.
The junior was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week.
Fix helped Messiah, ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division III, to a 3-1 opening week with a team-high 12.2 innings pitched, allowing six hits and finishing with a 1.11 ERA.
Fix earned a win against Methodist with six shutout frames, allowing one hit and striking out one in the complete-game effort. Fix followed that with 6.2 innings against No. 11 Emory, allowing two earned runs in a 2-1 setback.
She held opponents to a .146 batting-average against for the week.
