Northeastern High School graduate Brandon Arentz, a freshman outside/opposite hitter at Penn State Altoona, has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week in men's volleyball.
Arentz had a pair of strong showings in two home matches Saturday.
Against AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend, the Lions won 3-0, and Arentz posted a season-high 15 kills to go along with 12 digs. Later that day, in a 3-0 loss to Southern Virginia University, the freshman had a team-high seven digs and added four kills.
On the week, the 6-foot, 2-inch Arentz totaled 19 kills (3.17 kills per set) and 19 digs (3.17 digs per set). This is the first AMCC Player of the Week award that he has won this season.
Arentz has twice been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Region Rookie of the Week this season.
