STATE COLLEGE — A borough official says Penn State fans celebrating the school’s upset victory over No. 2 Ohio State caused about $18,000 damage to public property.
State College Borough Manager Tom Fountaine tells the Centre Daily Times (http://bit.ly/2eDgc7L ) that fans pulled down five street lights and damaged street light globes. Fountaine said fans also took down about 20 streets signs and stop signs.
It’s not clear how much damage was done to private property, though at least one vehicle was damaged and some furniture was set on fire.
Police say 5,000 to 10,000 mostly college-aged fans gathered in downtown State College after the 24-21 victory Saturday night.
Police want anyone who took photos or video capturing illegal activity to send the images to investigators.
