COLLEGE: York teams earn pair of opening victories

The York College fall athletic season got off to a triumphant start on Thursday in York.
The men's soccer team opened a highly anticipated campaign with a 3-1 win over Randolph College in a non-conference contest at Graham Field.
The field hockey team opened the Kaitlyn Hamilton era with a 4-1 win over McDaniel College at Kinsley Field.
In the men's soccer win, Ryan Ockford paced York with two goals, while Susquehannock High School graduate Nathan Bilbie also scored. Bilbie, a sophomore, scored his first Spartan goal. Keith Witherell, Matt Freibaum and Ben Mochan provided assists. Charlie Johnson had four saves to get the win in goal.
In the field hockey contest, Red Lion High School graduates Ali Posey, Paige Taylor and Alexa Taylor each scored a goal for York, as did Autumn Mallory. The Taylor sisters scored goals in the same game for the first time in their collegiate careers. Beth Patrick had two assists for the Spartans, while Jennifer Morrissette had a defensive save. Eve Hauptle got the win goal, making three saves.
Penn State York falls in men's soccer: The Penn State York men's soccer team fell at Delaware Valley on Thursday evening, 4-2.
Casey Tober and Adrian Odira scored for PSY, while Jack Jaramillo provided an assist.
PSY fell to 1-1 after a season-opening 7-2 triumph over Central Penn on Monday.
