Kennard-Dale High School graduate Nathan Ellis recently was named an NCAA Division III All-America Honorable Mention selection in men's volleyball.
The honor was given out by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Ellis and teammate Rob Wingert were the first Mustangs to earn All-America recognition in the 18-year history of the program. Wingert was a second-team All-American.
The 6-foot, 6-inch junior was one of three players to appear in all 34 matches for the Mustangs, totaling 109 sets. He was third on the team with 220 kills while ranking second with 117 total blocks.
After advancing to the NCAA Division III semifinals, Stevenson finished the season ranked No. 4 in the AVCA NCAA Division III final poll. The ranking is the highest in program history. The Mustangs won Continental Volleyball Conference title.
Ellis was also named to the CVC All-Tournament Team and the CVC All-Academic Team.
Shorts also honored: Another York County product, Landon Shorts, also earned major honors for the Stevenson men's volleyball team.
The 6-2 freshman from Central York was named the ECAC Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Year and the CVC Rookie of the Year
Like Ellis, he was one of three players to appear in all 34 matches for the Mustangs, totaling 110 sets. He led the team and the conference with 345 kills, including 3.14 per set. He set the single-season program record with 58 service aces. He also added 46 total blocks, including eight solo, as well as 33 assists.
