Central York grad an All-American

Central York High School graduate Jade Arganbright has again earned NCAA Division II All-America swimming laurels.

The California University of Pennsylvania junior placed third in the finals of the 100 breaststroke on Friday at the NCAA D-II Championships in Indianapolis.

Central York High School graduate Jade Arganbright is expected to return to York County for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Swimming Championships. She's a standout on the California University of Pennsylvania swimming team. She is one of a number of former York County high school standouts expected to compete in the meet.

Arganbright broke her own school record and finished in third place during both the preliminaries and finals of the 100 breast. She entered the preliminaries seeded sixth before touching the wall in 1 minute, 1.66 seconds to shatter the previous school record she set at last year's NCAA Championships by nearly seven-tenths of a second. Arganbright then reset the record by almost three-tenths of a second in the finals, when she posted a time of 1:01.39, which was four-tenths of a second faster than fourth place.

Arganbright also received All-America honors in the 200 breast for the second-straight year and placed eighth overall in the finals on Saturday. Arganbright became only the third swimmer in school history to earn All-America status as an individual at least four times in a career. She finished in eighth place during both the preliminaries and finals of the 200 breast after being seeded outside the top 25 in the event. Arganbright touched the wall in 2:16.10 during the preliminaries to improve her season-best time by more than 3.5 seconds. The junior standout then placed eighth in the finals on Saturday in 2:17.11.

Arganbright has earned All-America laurels in both the 100 and 200 breast in each of the last two seasons.

Strathmeyer an honorable mention All-American: In addition, West York High School graduate Bradley Strathmeyer earned honorable All-America honors in two events.

The West Chester University senior finished 16th in the 500 freestyle in 4:31.28.

Strathmeyer was also part of West Chester's 400 freestyle relay team that finished 16 in 3:03.46.
