Local swimmers excel at PSAC meet
Central York High School graduate Jade Arganbright, a junior at California University of Pennsylvania, repeated as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion in the 200 individual medley on Thursday evening at the Graham Aquatic Center in York.
Arganbright registered the fastest time in both the preliminaries and finals, resetting her season-best time in each heat. She touched the wall in 2 minutes, 6.51 seconds during the preliminaries before claiming the league title with a time of 2:05.12 in the finals. Arganbright, who was seeded 14th prior to the preliminaries, won the finals by 1.73 seconds and reached the NCAA 'B' qualifying mark in each session. The reigning PSAC Swimmer of the Year now holds the 19th-fastest time in NCAA Division II this season, while becoming only the third swimmer in program history to repeat as an individual league champion.
West York High School graduate Bradley Strathmeyer also won an individual event. The West Chester University senior captured the 1,000 freestyle in 9:18.09. Strathmeyer has earned All-America honors while at West Chester and has captured multiple PSAC titles.
Dover grad Aniella Janosky finished seventh in the women's 1,000 free in 10:24.86. Janosky is a junior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a former PSAC Freshman of the Year.
