York High grad captures PSAC honor

York High graduate Aignee Freeland has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 24.

It is the first time she has received the award this season.

Freeland recorded double-doubles in both wins this past week for Edinboro University.

In Wednesday's 73-54 win over California (Pa.), Freeland totaled a team-high 26 points and 13 rebounds. She was 12 of 14 from the field.

In the 65-54 win over Seton Hill on Sunday, Freeland scored a team-high 21 points and added another 13 boards. She also turned away a game-high five shots.

The 6-foot, 3-inch senior forward ranks fifth in the PSAC in scoring at 16.7 points per game and seventh with 8.8 rebounds per game. Freeland has recorded eight double-doubles this season, four consecutively. She recently cracked the top 10 in all-time Edinboro scoring, ranking ninth with 1,401 career points. She also ranks third all-time with 882 rebounds and sixth with 117 blocked shots.

Freeland leads Edinboro in scoring and rebounding.

Edinboro is 14-6 overall and 9-5 in the PSAC.
