Dallastown grad earns wrestling honor

Dallastown High School graduate Phil Sprenkle, a 197-pound wrestler for Lock Haven University, has been named both the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and Eastern Wrestling League Athlete of the Week for his efforts over the weekend.
He was one of two Bald Eagles to win vs. Big Ten opponent Purdue on Saturday, pinning Drake Stein just 3 minutes, 13 seconds into the bout in the dual match with the Biolermakers.
On Sunday, Sprenkle breezed to the title at the Mat Town Open, going 3-0. Sprenkle used a quick pin (2:08 vs. Jack Argast of F&M) and 6-0 decision over Kyle Kremiller (Rutgers, unattached) to move into the finals. In the title bout, he took down Edinboro's Warren Bosch (unattached) three seconds in on the way to the 5-0 decision.

Sprenkle is 9-3 on the season and 64-41 for his career.
