York Revolution's record at 31-31 after rain-shortened home loss in front of big crowd


The York Revolution dropped back to .500 on the season (31-31) with a six-inning, rain-shortened 3-2 loss to Sugar Land on Wednesday evening.


The game was played in front of an announced crowd of 5,939 at PeoplesBank Park. A fireworks show was scheduled for after the game.

York led 2-0 after three innings, but a three-run homer by Sugar Land's Anthony Giansanti in the fifth inning gave the Skeeters the lead for good.

Robert Carson (5-3) pitched all six innings for York, allowing four hits and three earned runs, while striking out eight, but took the loss. His ERA for the season is 2.25.

Michael Burgess and Alexi Casilla drove in York's runs, while Luis Cruz doubled.

Matt Sergey got the win for Sugar Land (41-21), allowing one earned run over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six.

Sugar Land, which has already clinched the Atlantic League Freedom Division first-half title, tangles again with York at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at PeoplesBank Park.
