A big blast from Michael Burgess helped carry the York Revolution to a 12-2 road victory against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Tuesday.
With the score knotted a 1-1 in the top of the third inning, Travis Witherspoon and Alexi Casilla each recorded one-out singles before Zach Wilson walked to load the bases.
Burgess then took a pitch from Blue Crabs starter Alex Boshers deep for a grand slam, capping a seven-run inning and putting the Revs ahead for good.
Jared Mitchell had four hits and two runs scored for York, which pounded 18 hits.
The offensive cushion helped push Revs starter Ross Detwiler to his first victory in a York uniform. Detwiler went five innings, giving up two runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking one.
The win puts York back at 6-5. The two teams are back at it again Wednesday night in Waldorf, Maryland, with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m.
