Jared Mitchell comes up big for surging York Revolution in win vs. New Britain

It's been a tale of two halves for the York Revolution.

The Revs struggled mightily during the first half of the Atlantic League season, finishing last in the Freedom Division at 28-42.

Jared Mitchell was 4 for 4, including two homers, for the York Revolution on Thursday, Aug. 3, in the Revs' 12-4 win at New Britain. Mitchell also had four RBIs and four runs scored.

The second half, however, has been a different story thus far.

York improved to 15-11 in the second half with a 12-4 road pounding of the New Britain Bees on Thursday evening, Aug. 3. Second-place York has won three straight.

The win allowed the Revs to keep pace with the first-place Lancaster Barnstormers (18-9), who beat Sugar Land 4-3. York trails Lancaster by 2 1/2 games.

Jared Mitchell was the big star for the Revs vs. the Bees, finishing 4 for 4, including two homers, to go with four runs scored and four RBIs. He belted a two-run homer during York's six-run fourth inning that broke the game open. Mitchell is hitting .297 on the season with nine homers and 37 RBIs.

Telvin Nash hit his fourth homer since returning to the Revs on July 25 with a three-run bomb in the eighth. Carlos Triumfel added two hits, including a homer, and two RBIs for York, while Chase Simpson had three hits and two runs scored. Luis Cruz had two hits and a run scored.

Logan Williamson got the win to improve to 5-7, despite allowing four earned runs over five innings. Michael Click, Jared Gaynor, Ricardo Gomez and Jacob Ezell each added a scoreless inning in relief.

The Revs and Bees are back at it in the second game of their four-game series in New Britain at 6:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4.
