After clinching a playoff spot by securing the first-half Freedom Division title, the start to the second half of the Atlantic League season has been anything but smooth for York. The Revs dropped a 5-2 decision to the Sugar Land Skeeters on Sunday at Constellation Field, losing three out of four games in the series and falling to 2-5 in the second half as the All-Star break arrives.

There wasn't one big inning that cost York (42-35) in Sunday's defeat, but rather, a consistent attack from the Sugar Land (40-37) offense. The Skeeters opened the game by tagging Revs' starter Ty'Relle Harris for runs in each of the game's first three innings. However, none of the early innings got away from Harris. He only allowed one run in each frame. But, the gradual increase in the lead put York behind 3-0 by the time the fourth inning rolled around.

Sugar Land finally put a crooked number on the board in the bottom of the fifth, striking for two more runs off of Harris to extend its lead to 5-0, coming on a Kent Matthes two-run homer.

The Revs finally found some offense in the top of the seventh, scoring twice to shrink the Skeeters' lead and give themselves some hope for a potential late-game rally. Michael Rockett scored Joel Guzman on an RBI groundout and, one batter later, Brandon Chaves singled home Kevin Rivers to make it a 5-2 game.

York's only semblance of a rally after that came in the top of the ninth when Guzman led off the inning with a double. He was left stranded there, however, as the next three Revs' batters were retired in order to end the game.

Harris wound up pitching six innings in taking the loss, allowing five runs, all earned, on seven hits, three walks and seven strikeouts. Michael Click pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Harris, allowing a hit, a walk and striking out two.

Jared Mitchell, Guzman and Chaves each had two-hit games for York.

With the exception of the five Revs heading to the All-Star Game this week in Lancaster, the rest of the team will have off until Friday. Following the break, York will begin a three-game home series against the New Britain Bees at PeoplesBank Park.
