Revs' Texas trip off to ugly start vs. Sugar Land
The York Revolution's Texas road trip got off to an ugly start on Thursday night with a 12-4 loss at Sugar Land.
The first-half Atlantic League Freedom Division champions fell to 1-3 in second-half action. Sugar Land improved to 3-1.
The Revs jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead, but things went south quickly after that. Sugar Land scored one run in the second and four runs in both the third and fourth innings to take control, 9-2. The Skeeters were never threatened after that.
York did pound out 14 hits, including four from Michael Rockett and two each from Travis Witherspoon, Andres Perez and Kevin Rivers.
The Revs' pitchers, however, gave up 15 hits. York starter Frank Gailey went four innings and gave up nine runs, although only four were earned.
The Revs-Skeeters series continues Saturday night with an 7:05 p.m. start.
