Palmer to speak at Revolution event

The York Revolution will hold its its third annual Hot Stove Luncheon for major partners and community leaders at The Yorktowne Hotel.

Jim Palmer will appear the York Revolution Hot Stove Luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Yorktowne Hotel.

The event is set for Thursday, Dec. 17, from noon until 1:30 p.m.

Hall-of-Fame pitcher Jim Palmer will be the keynote speaker at the event. The six-time Major League Baseball All-Star selection is the owner of three World Series rings with the Baltimore Orioles and three Cy Young Awards.

During the event, the Revolution will announce a major, long-term sponsorship addition for the 2016 baseball season and beyond.

Next season will mark the 10th anniversary season of York Revolution baseball.

The event is not open to the public without an invitation.

Last Friday, the Central Penn Business Journal reported that the annual War of the Roses series between the Revs and the Lancaster Barnstormers will have a sponsor.

In 2016, the regular-season Atlantic League games between the Revs and Barnstormers will be known as “'The ‘War of the Roses’ Presented by PNC Bank,” with the Pittsburgh-based banking giant sponsoring the series.

According to the report, games between the two teams next season will feature commemorative hats worn by both teams, with the PNC logo on them, and a special home-run hitting contest between high school players from both counties.

It's the first time the series has had a sponsor in several years.
