It took two nights, but Jacobus outlasts Windsor for 12-9 Susquehanna League playoff win

It took two nights, but Jacobus finally emerged with a 12-9 slugfest victory over visiting Windsor on Wednesday in the opening game of their best-of-3 Susquehanna League semifinal playoff series.

The game started Tuesday and Jacobus led Windsor, 10-9, after five innings when play was halted. It resumed on Wednesday.

Alex Zelger led the Jackals by going 4 for 5, including a triple, with three runs scored and one RBI.

Also for Jacobus, Rob Acierno went 3 for 5, including a double, with three RBIs; Brett Alaimo went 2 for 4 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored; A.J. Holcomb went 2 for 3, including a homer, with three runs scored and one RBI; Mike Austin went 2 for 3 with one RBI, two runs scored and two walks; and Ethan Ketterman doubled with three RBIs.

For Windsor, Grant Schwartz went 3 for 4, including two homers, with five RBIs and two runs scored; Zach Gettys went 2 for 3, including a solo homer; Shawn Wilson went 2 for 4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored; Cole Daugherty went 1 for 2 with two runs scored and two walks; and Tyler Stabley doubled with one RBI and one run scored.

The series will continue at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at Windsor.
