LOCAL BASEBALL: Strong start powers Conrads to 10-4 Susquehanna League win over Jacobus


Conrads jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and never looked back en route to a 10-4 Susquehanna League baseball triumph over visiting Jacobus on Monday evening.

Rick Thompson homered and drove in three runs for the winners, while Joe Yourgal belted three hits, including a homer, to go with two RBIs.

Alex Weakland (two RBIs), Nolan Boushell (double, three runs), Neco Velasco (triple, two runs), Josh Knaub (two hits, RBI, run), Brandon Walters (two hits, double, RBI) and Steve Lehman (two hits, run) also excelled for Conrads' 13-hit attack.

The winners used five pitchers. Lehman pitched two shutout innings, while Weakland and Walters each pitched one shutout inning.

Alex Zelger (two hits, two RBIs, run), Kyle Saxman (two hits, RBI) and Jaron Shimmel (double, RBI, run) paced Jacobus.



Jefferson 7, Mount Wolf 1: At Shiloh, Jon Kibler led Jefferson to the victory by throwing a complete game, striking out eight and walking one.

Also for Jefferson, Steve Gentile had two hits, including a double, while Tyler Troxel had two hits and Jordan Higgins doubled. For Mount Wolf, Colby Smith had two hits, including a double, while Brayden Lackey also doubled.
