LOCAL BASEBALL: Jacobus, Stewartstown split Susquehanna League doubleheader

Jacobus and Stewartstown split a Susquehanna League baseball doubleheader on Sunday at Stewartstown. 

The home team won the first game, 7-6, while Jacobus took the second contest, 4-0.

In the opener, Cody Brittain had three hits, including a double and a homer, to go with three RBIs and two runs scored to power the Vets.

Marcus Stevenson (two hits, RBI, run) and Ryan McMillan (two hits, RBI) also excelled for Stewartstown, who got a complete-game effort on the mound from Blake Kendrick.

Jacobus was paced by Alex Zelger (two doubles, three RBIs, run), Mike Austin (three hits, two runs), Brian Crimmel (two hits, run) and Justin Kilpatrick (two RBIs, run).

In the second game, the Jackals' Casey Markey threw a six-hit shutout, striking out two without a walk.

Zelger had two hits and a run scored for Jacobus, while Austin doubled, drove in a run and scored a run.

Jason Mitchell had two hits for the Vets.

Windsor 14, Felton 7: At Windsor, Shawn Wilson powered the home team with three hits (including two doubles), three RBIs and two runs scored.

Tyler Stabley (two hits, two RBIs, two runs), Connor Dewees (two hits, two runs), Brandon White (two hits, double, two RBIs, run), Cole Daugherty (two hits, double, two RBIs, run) and Tyler Myers (double, two RBIs, run) also excelled in Windsor's 14-hit attack.

Loanni Kovack had two RBIs and a run scored for Felton, while Cole Delp had two runs scored and an RBI. Brandon Berkheimer (RBI, run) and Patrick Daugherty (run) each doubled.

LEAGUE GAME

Dover 5, Manchester 5 (6 innings): At Manchester, the two teams battled to a six-inning tie.

Dover scored three runs in the sixth to tie it up. The game was ended after six innings because of darkness.

Manchester was paced by Austin Allison (three hits, double, RBI, run) and Chris Biechler (two RBIs).

Dover was led by Colby Shimmel (two hits, RBI) and Austin Rickrode (two RBIs).
